Production Engineer for HySpex imaging Systems

Norsk Elektro Optikk AS was established in 1985 as a privately owned research oriented company within the field of electro optics. The company has since its start grown to be the largest independent research and development organization in electro optics in Norway, and has in addition established itself as a manufacturer of advanced electro optical products for an international market. NEO participates in a number of international R&D projects in the field of electro optics (EU, ESA, etc.). NEO and its former subsidiary NEO Monitors are co-located at Skedsmokorset, outside Oslo and employs approximately 65 people in the two companies.

HySpex is a leading brand of hyperspectral imaging cameras developed and manufactured by Norsk Elektro Optikk AS (NEO).

Hyperspectral imaging combines the power of digital imaging and spectroscopy. For each pixel in an image, a hyperspectral camera measures the amount of light in hundreds of spectral bands (colours), yielding a continuous spectrum in each pixel. The measured spectrum is a "fingerprint" of the materials present in each pixel of the scene.

Hyperspectral cameras are used in numerous areas, including industrial quality control, airborne remote sensing, biophysics, geology, forensics, art, medical diagnostics, security and defense and many more.  From a start in 1995 as a space research program, HySpex cameras are now being utilized by a rapidly expanding base of users in research and industry worldwide. Due to increased demand for our products, we need to expand our team with a Production Engineer.

Main tasks:

Production and calibration of HySpex cameras and related accessories for airborne, lab and field applications. Service, upgrades and repair.

Qualifications and skills:

• B.Sc/Engineer in electronics, optical engineering or similar fields
• Strong practical skills (optics, electronics, mechanics)
• A few years’ experience from similar work in relevant industries is a benefit, but not a requirement
• Enthusiastic, creative and proactive
• Self-driven and able to work independently and take responsibility
• Structured, systematic and thorough
• Good team player

If you in addition to having a relevant education also is the type of person who repairs your own and your friends’ phones, computers, cameras, and other electronics, it is very likely that you will fit in this role (but this background is not mandatory).
