The MODU Technical Services Department provides service and support to rigs operated by Odfjell Drilling. Marine Technical Services ensures daily follow-up and operational support of operations related to marine discipline; ensuring optimized operations and adherence to applicable rules and regulations. This incorporates approval of procedures, function-testing, mooring analysis, rig moves preparation and execution, stability analyses, execution of displacement and inclination tests, VDL upgrades, Special Periodic Surveys, Renewal Surveys, riser analysis, wellhead fatigue competence and other various analysis and services.

The combined effort of our team that consist of academic skilled personnel, personnel with practical marine and maritime experience ensures optimized products to our customers encompassing effective planning and safe execution to meet the highest HSE standards in the industry.

Odfjell Drilling is looking for temporary replacement as Marine Engineer that will join the MODU Technical Services team.Workplace in Odfjell Drilling's office in Bergen.

 

Qualifications:

  • Candidate must be a University graduate of Naval Architecture/Marine Engineering, or similar.
  • Relevant working experience is an advantage; relevant competence may compensate lack of working experience.
  • Experience with marine dynamic analysis
  • Experience with OrcaFlex, Mimosa, MATLAB or similar analysis software
  • Programming experience is an advantage
  • Good conceptual understanding and knowledge of drilling vessels, drilling operations and applicable rules and regulations.
  • Good Oral and written English and Norwegian skills are required

Job objectives:   

  • As part of the MODU Technical Services Marine Department ensure service and support to our rig fleet within the marine discipline
  • Take responsibility of keeping the discipline up to date with best practice and work methods including applicable regulatory requirements
  • Performance of marine analysis, and delivery of analysis reports of high standards
  • Contribute to create a good working environment for the team

Key tasks:

  • As part of the group ensure support to our rig fleet within the marine discipline
  • Performing various marine analysis for units operating worldwide, in accordance with applicable class and authority rules and regulations e.g. riser analysis and/or mooring analysis
  • Support in development of operational procedures and guidelines
  • Take responsibility for effective delivery to rig organization
  • Partaking in developing the discipline, our work methods and in-house analysis software
  • Participate in marine related projects related to rig operations; planning and preparations
