Legal Graduate / Junior Legal Counsel, Legal & Compliance Nordic/Baltic

At BASF, we create chemistry for a sustainable future. We combine economic success with environmental protection and social responsibility. The more than 115,000 employees in the BASF Group work on contributing to the success of our customers in nearly all sectors and almost every country in the world. Our portfolio is organized into five segments: Chemicals, Performance Products, Functional Materials & Solutions, Agricultural Solutions and Oil & Gas.

BASF’s in-house legal function is looking for a newly graduated Master of Laws with solid academic results and a strong desire to build a career in a global company. Our 24-months graduate program offers ambitious candidates an exciting entry opportunity to BASF in the Nordic/Baltic region.

We offer an exciting and challenging position in a growing global company that connects people and knowledge to solve global problems and create innovative solutions for a sustainable future. Right from the start, you will be working with challenging tasks in a diverse and international environment. Throughout your graduate program you will be exposed to different areas of the organization and get to work with professional and inclusive colleagues, who will help you develop your skills for a future career within BASF.

Enrolled in the graduate program, your primary focus will be to develop your knowledge and experience in a broad role within the Legal & Compliance function. You will have a possibility to practice your skills in a variety of global, regional and local projects, and you will be an active participant in the Legal & Compliance service delivery across the Nordic & Baltic region. You will be reporting to and working closely with our Head of Legal and Compliance for Nordic/Baltic.

As part of the program, you will gain experience from working in one or more other countries for shorter periods of time, and you will assume responsibility for your own real value-adding project. You will be assigned a mentor from our Nordic/Baltic Leadership Team, who will help you build a career within BASF and guide you on how best to achieve your goals. The outcome of your discussions will be captured in your development plan, along with frequent reviews with your manager and HR manager. Our aim is to train and develop you for a future role within BASF, and when your program is coming to an end we will assess your performance and potential new career opportunities within BASF.

Applications are reviewed on a continuous basis.

You will focus on the following areas:
  • Provide legal advice to management and business on miscellaneous legal issues, incl. commercial, corporate, antitrust, compliance and governance issues.

  • Excellent legal skills, high integrity and professional standards, coupled with strong problem-solving skills and a business acumen.
  • We are seeking a proactive team player with initiative and drive, who enjoys building relationships with colleagues from various functions of a global company and engaging with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Excellent communication skills both in English and one of the Scandinavian languages, both oral and written, are prerequisites.
  • Open-minded, flexible and culturally agile.
