Local Unit & Position Description

The ideal candidate is a digital native who has a good understanding of the aquaculture business, both the technical and biological aspects of the industry.  You also have the skills necessary to think holistically about the opportunities as well as the potential threats to our Ocean space.

You will be an important part of a team of researchers forming the Ocean Space Programme in Group Technology and Research. This programme works across several business areas in DNV GL to bring new insight and services to the aquaculture industry. As an Aquaculture Researcher and Analysts in this programme you will have the opportunity to influence how DNV GL innovates the industry, including:

• Combining technical and biological understanding of the industry into new insights
• Developing and conducting research on novel ways of applying digital solutions in the aquaculture industry, such as the use of:

            - data-sharing platforms and advanced analytics to gain novel insight
            - on-line monitoring and analytics of operating conditions
            - data-driven approaches and machine learning

• Exploring, assessing and creating new data-enabled business models for the industry
• Engaging with clients to understand industry needs and piloting solutions
• Building international networks externally and internally with key people in the field
• Collaborate with top academic personnel and participate in multi-partner research activities related to the aquaculture industry

Your competencies will be crucial in developing this research area in DNV GL and you will have a unique chance to contribute to advancing the aquaculture industry.  In addition, you will have the opportunity to apply your knowledge and skills to take a holistic view at the sustainable management of the Ocean and to explore growth opportunities of new ocean-based value chains.  This position is in the Group Technology and Research unit. The successful candidate will get the chance to transition into our business area in the longer run to apply innovation more directly with customers.

Position Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher in natural sciences or engineering
• Strong digital skills (programming and data analytics)
• Fluency in English and Norwegian written and spoken
• 2-5 years of relevant experience with/from the aquaculture industry
• Experience with strategic research and development projects
• Publication and conference presentation record

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Technically strong in own discipline, eager to share knowledge as well as acquire new knowledge
