Workshop Technician

As a Workshop Technician you will be performing tasks associated with assembling, troubleshooting, configuring and testing of wired tools,network hardware and test support equipment. Responsibilities include repair, maintenance and upgrades to software and accurately documenting all work performed.

Essential Job Function:

• Work with detailed instructions, electronic tools and test equipment to assemble the following components: electronic pipe test fixtures, network server rack mount systems and cable assemblies.
• Install and configures firmware and hardware in servers and electronic test fixtures and performs testing to certify that the hardware is qualified for field use.
• Document and keep a detailed history of the components assembled.
• Troubleshoot and assess problems with network hardware in order to make corrections.
• Repair network hardware and tests support equipment. Accurately document the repair work performed and submit this information to engineering for review
• Perform maintenance on IntelliServ network hardware and test support equipment.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Degree in Electronics Technology or related field. Work experience will be accepted in place of degree.
• 3 to 5 years of previous experience working with electronics. Firm understanding of basic electronic symbols. Strong experience reading and understanding electronic schematics and blueprints.
• Experience with assembly of electrical components: electronic pipe test fixtures, network server rack mount systems and cable assemblies.
• Experience with configuration and testing of network firmware and software.      
• Strong experience using electronic test equipment and tools (i.e. DMM and oscilloscopes).
• Experience troubleshooting, repairing and documenting problems with IntelliServ network hardware and test support equipment is a plus, perform upgrades and scheduled maintenance.
• Experienced and certified with J?Standard Soldering. Firm soldering experience.
• Excellent written and spoken English language skills.
