Primary Metal Technology (PMT) is responsible for technology development related to primary production of aluminium. Hydro is world leader within aluminium production technology. Together with colleagues in the technology organization you will take part in developing smelter technology and implement new technology at Hydro's smelters in Norway and abroad. At the technology center in Årdal, we have full-scale testing facilities as well as laboratories where we can bring ideas, theory and academic knowledge into technological solutions. Hydro is now working with implementation of Industry 4.0 solutions.
Area of Responsibility
The right candidate has interest in developing operational competence in order to push technology and operation further. This means to develop competence to see the electrolysis cell as a part of the bigger system it integrates.
Operational competence includes understanding of process control and operation of electrolysis cell, theoretical and practical, as well as an understanding of system engineering needed for optimal operations.
Graduates in Primary Metal Technology will take part in:
- Development, optimization and implementation of new technical solutions into Primary Metal’s smelters in Norway and internationally
- Initiation, planning and execution of technology development projects
- Utilize principles from Industry 4.0 to develop solutions for the future
Qualifications
- Master’s or PhD degree within Chemical Engineering, Process technology or similar
- Good academic results
- Interest and skills within new analytic tools
- Good communication and cooperation skills
