Norwegian People's Aid Department for Humanitarian Disarmament seeks 4 new advisors
Wars and armed conflicts come to an end; however, the remnants of war continue to terrorize millions of people for decades to follow. Humanitarian Disarmament's vision is a world where people and communities are safe, resilient and protected before, during and after armed conflict. Together with national authorities and other stakeholders, we are working to resolve problems faced by local communities caused by landmines and other explosive remnants of war. Currently NPA has more than 20 Humanitarian Disarmament Programmes ongoing in Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Balkans and the Middle East. We are mainly a self-implementing organisation.

As advisor you will join the Head Office team in Oslo with frequent travels to programmes and operations. You will be met with high expectations in a dynamic work environment. You will be working in teams to support and develop the programmes in an assigned region. Your main responsibility willl be to ensure that strategies and plans are implemeneted with quality, effectiveness, relevance and impact. The Department for Humanitarian Disarmament is hiring 4 advisors for its 3 regions: Central Asia, South East Asia and Pacific, Middle East and Europe, and Africa and Latin America. These positions are additional to the current 5 advisors.
In this position your main responsibilities will be:
- Maintaining a strategic overview of context, sector and programmes
- Providing assistance to the external offices on various issues spanning from technical operations, logistics, finance, management and HR.
- Sparring partner for the programme management
To be succesfull in this role you must have/be:
- Relevant higher education and/or relevant exeprience from operational or project work
- Strong coordination skills
- Ability to work under stress
- Fluent in English
We consider it an advantage if you also have:
- Leadership and/or managerial experience
- international experience
- Experience from humanitarian work, Mine Action or other relevant sectors
- Tehcnical experience from Mine Action/Explosive Ordnance Disposal
- Norwegian language skills
For advisors for Africa and Latin America, Spanish, French or Portoguese language is an advantage.
For advisors for Middle East and Europe, Middle East area knowledge and Arabic language are an advantage.

An interesting, challenging work environment. You will be covered by our comprehensive insurance scheme. We offer five weeks annual holiday*. 1 position is permanent, 1 position is for 2 years, 1 position for 1 year and 1 position for 6 months. All with posibility for extension.
The positions are based centrally in Oslo.
