Quantitative Model Developers (from Entry to Senior level)

Santander Consumer Bank is now looking for Quantitative Model Developers from entry level to experienced professionals to join the Nordic Risk Modeling Team in our office in Lysaker. Given the increasing number of quantitative tasks and high focus on analytics based decision making, the team has been growing fast and engaged to take the methodology team and advanced analytics to the next level. This is an excellent opportunity for you if you have strong analytical skills, are confident working with numbers and have the desire to apply that knowledge in the financial sector within the exciting area of credit risk. 

You would be part of the Nordic Risk Modeling Team within the Nordic Risk organization that is working together with the business units in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland, ensuring that the quantitative modeling activities and related analytical tasks follow the highest of standards and implemented and monitored for all the products in each country under the same governance. The team is responsible for the following areas:

• Development of decision supporting tools/quantitative models to predict customer behavior
• Model developments to support the calculation of the Banks expected credit losses
• Estimation of parameters to determine the level of unexpected losses
• Model management and planning
• Machine Learning and related innovation initiatives within the area of credit risk 

We offer positions with the following tasks and responsibilities:

• Development of quantitative models to predict customer payment behavior
• New development and annual update of expected and unexpected loss parameter models
• Taking the lead on the assigned project from start to implementation
• Ad-hoc reporting and predictive modeling related responsibilities
• Working on other interesting out-of-the-box analytical projects 

The members of the modeling team are offered the possibility to work on different projects that ensures that our colleagues can explore and work on different initiatives and improve and develop further their analytical tool-kit and business understanding.  

In order to succeed, you need the following qualification:

You have an interest in advanced analytics and mathematics and are eager to apply this knowledge in the area of credit risk. Ideally you have a Bachelors or Masters degree in Mathematics, Physics, Economics or similar. 

In addition, you have the below technical and other skills:

• Knowledge of/Interest in applied modeling approaches (Logistic Regression, CHAID/CART, Decision Trees, Neural Networks, etc.)
• Good command of Microsoft Office tools
• Experience of working in a quantitative field or having related studies
• Work experience in the Nordic financial sector will be seen as a huge advantage in case of Senior applicants
• Ability to put results in business context and see the story behind the numbers
• Positive mindset and can-do attitude and willingness to learn new things
• Ability to embrace change, improvement and innovation
• Mentality that can see the cup half-full
• Excellent communication skills (spoken and written English). In addition, since you will work closely together with the business units, good command of at least one of the Nordic languages would be a requirement
