Design Engineer

NOV Completion Tools currently has an immediate opening for a Design Engineer at Forus, Stavanger You will join a team of mechanical design engineers who design, prototype and sustain our downhole Completion tool product portfolio. Your role will include interaction with both our sales, operational, supply chain departments. The successful candidate will report directly to the Engineering Manager and work with a dedicated team of engineers. As Design Engineer you will take ownership of multiple projects undertaking all engineering activities relating to each project including calculations, producing drawings, Bills of Materials and documentation and resolving issues that arise at all stages. 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform full lifecycle product development (design, develop, test prototypes, manufacture and implement) 
• Verify design by using sound engineering calculation principles
• Estimate budget and scope of project
• Prepare product reports and documentation
• Take part in reviewing drawing and documentation
• Carry out sustaining work on existing product portfolio
• Contribute in concept and design reviews.
• Attend meeting with customers
• Support other departments and carry out other duties as may be reasonably expected by the role
• Travel is occasionally required as dictated by project needs.

Qualifications:

• Essential: Bachelor degree in Engineering discipline
• Desirable: Mechanical engineering
  
  

Experience:

• Essential: 3+ years’ experience of designing mechanical hydraulic equipment
• Desirable: Design experience of downhole completion products

Skills,  training or special knowledge

•  Essential:
      o Ability to develope mechanical tools that meets the end-users  requirements
      o Strong experience with CAD modelling software and drafting  procedures.
      o Project development skills
      o Ability to write engineering documents
      o Working knowledge of FEA and supportive hand calculation
      o Proficient in written and spoken English or Norwegian languages
• Desirable
      o An understanding of metalurgy
      o EPDM Solidworks system administration experience
