We seek a scientist for our R&D group with experience in digital signal processing. The main focus of the position is the innovation, development and maintenance of data processing algorithms applied to electromagnetic (EM) geophysics. You will be working on a comprehensive processing chain where recorded raw data is prepared for input to advanced subsurface imaging algorithms. The work is performed in close collaboration with our experts working on source and receiver hardware development as well as imaging R&D team.

The right candidate must be able to work efficiently both in independent and collaborative modes to deliver high quality results. Through this position, the candidate will acquire in-depth understanding and experience in the domains of technical problems addressed.

Roles and responsibilities
•Perform research and development of new and advanced methods for signal processing and noise suppression with applications for marine electromagnetics
•Combine theoretical work on numerical algorithms with practical integration into an in-house processing platform encompassing all stages from low-level electronics to high-performance computing applications
•Interact with internal user groups in different departments where professionals focus on hardware development, field data acquisition, as well as exploration and interpretation
•Follow the current state-of-the-art in international research for relevant disciplines
•Participate at international conferences and contribute to scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals
•Depending on experience level, the right candidate may also be given responsibility for project management and scientific supervision of younger colleagues
Qualifications
•Education: Preferably PhD degree within a relevant discipline (e.g. physics, electronics / electrical engineering), alternatively MSc degree in combination with extensive R&D experience
•Experience with Linux and numerical programming using e.g. C/C++, Python, Fortran

•Team player with strong professional integrity and good interpersonal skills
•Effective communication skills in English
•Problem-solving skills and endurance to tackle technically challenging problems
•Work efficiently in prototyping and testing of numerical schemes
