Searching for an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

We aim to strengthen our Machine Design & Delivery team with a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer who takes responsibility for mechanical design of RPD™ machines including improvements and development of new functions.

Work description

The Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer will be part of the Machine Design & Delivery team at Norsk Titanium's Technology Center together with experts within software, metallurgy, automation, process control, sensors and manufacturing. The role will be important in industrializing our technology and will strengthen the engineering team.

The person we seek will focus on mechanical design of RPD™ machines including improvements and development of new functions. Another important task will be to hold the Project Manager role on design projects and support the development of technical data packages with respect of mechanical design included documentation.

Key work tasks and responsibilities

• Project manager role for new development projects
• Including mechanical design
• Including follow up of vendors and sub suppliers
• Trade studies and supplier screening
• Support the development of technical data packages with respect of mechanical design
• Special responsible in to identifying areas of technical development to increase profitability, competitiveness, solidness, reliability, quality, safety, etc.
• Subject matter expert and point of contact for suppliers

Key profile characteristics

• Master’s degree within the fields of mechanical design/engineering or equal
• Minimum 8 years’ experience in mechanical engineering and design of complex technical systems
• Project management experience and knowhow
• Experience in CAD modelling (Inventor, NX, SolidWorks, CATIA)
• Knowledge from analysis of mechanical systems, including Finite Elements analysis for structural, thermal, static and dynamic effects
• Knowledge and experience from 3D-printing or other adequate industry
• Creative with ability to develop and improve complex mechanical designs
• Strong communication and documentation skills
• Accurate and structured in daily work
• Ability to provide consistent work products and complete projects on time
• Demonstrated ability to work with and support cross-functional project teams
• Are dedicated, takes "ownership" and have ability to work under pressure
• Are solution-oriented, flexible and adaptable with a "can-do" attitude
