At a time when humanitarian crises strike more frequent than ever, Norwegian Church Aid (NCA) works continuously to increase our capacity to assist in disasters. We specialize in delivery of water, sanitation and hygiene in emergencies.

We are seeking a team oriented, flexible and experienced logistician, who primarily will work to ensure effective logistics processes in our humanitarian relief work. Besides this, you will work to ensure the quality of our country office's emergency preparedness and long-term projects.

This is a permanent position based at our office in Oslo, but with extensive travelling to our operations in the field.

Tasks

  • Set up the logistics work and establish logistics and procurement routines in the first phase of an emergency response
  • Improve tools and procedures for logistics within emergency response work in close cooperation with the humanitarian division
  • Train and follow up logistics personnel in NCA's emergency roster
  • Conduct quality assurance, advise and train employees at country offices both in emergency preparedness planning and procurement/logistics work related to long-term development programmes
  • Implement NCA's warehouse management system in several countries
  • Extensive travelling must be expected. The duration of travels can vary from one week to six weeks.

Qualifications

  • Higher relevant education - work experience can compensate for lack of education
  • Operational field experience within humanitarian aid organisations or UN organisations
  • Experienced capacity builder with good pedagogical skills to train other staff members and partners
  • Good understanding of the global cluster cooperation as well as proven interpersonal skills and capability to build relationships with other actors
  • Good understanding of procurement/Supply Chain Management and finance within humanitarian or development sector incl. various donor requirements.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written. Norwegian, French, Spanish and Arabic are assets
  • Experience with different IT solutions

  • Excellent time manager with ability to meet deadlines, prioritise and solve problems within challenging timeframes and conditions

  • Culture and conflict sensitive
