Head of Maritime Personnel

Höegh LNG seeks an experienced, ambitious and competent leader to manage, develop and lead our highly skilled and motivated Maritime Personnel team. The successful candidate will lead a global team of manning employees and manning suppliers and be responsible for the deployment and management of Höegh LNGs seafarers. All seafarers are employed within the Höegh LNG group, however mostly managed through external yet closely affiliated manning suppliers.

Höegh LNG has progressed significantly in recent years and has an ambitious growth strategy which will require a significant increase in number of seafarers in the years to come. Head of Maritime Personnel will continue to broaden our international recruitment base with an emphasis on developing high quality seafarers from South East Asia and Europe through our manning suppliers.

The operating model for Höegh LNG have changed in recent years from transportation of LNG only to also cover stationary FSRU operation in different local jurisdictions. Ability to navigate through local jurisdiction (such as labor law, local content, etc.) is a critical success factor for this position. The current fleet of nine vessels will increase by more than 30% within the next 18 months.

The position will report to Senior Vice President Fleet Management. Höegh LNG is centrally located at Skøyen in Oslo.

Job description

• Support development of-, implement and deliver the crewing strategy for Höegh LNG Fleet Management.
• Working with manning suppliers to ensure quality and consistency in recruitment, selection and assessment.
• Ensure the right candidates are retained, trained and promoted.
• Build a pipeline of talent for the future, through internal learning and development, cadet programmes, widening recruitment base, etc.
• Responsible for setting and implementing the priorities, objectives and key performance indicators for Maritime Personnel Department.
• Ensure the organisation always delivers the required crewing service level and interact effectively with all stakeholders with the aim of serving our customers in the best way.
• Function as a sparring partner to Senior Vice President Fleet Management.
• Support Business Development on new projects.
• Represent Höegh LNG in regulatory bodies and industryrelevant forums on maritime personnel matters.
• Considerable international travel.

 Qualifications

• Strong track record in Crewing and Marine HR at a senior level.
• Relevant university or college degree, alternatively sailing background at senior officer level.
• Minimum two years management experience.
• Experience working with seafarers from our recruitment areas; Northern and South Eastern Europe, US, Indonesia, Philippines, etc.
• Excellent verbal and written English and communication skills are essential as you will work with internal and external stakeholders in an international environment.
• Recent hands-on crew management experience is an advantage.
• Good understanding of corporate business with experience from budgeting and cost control.
• Solid IT skills.
• Ability to live and work in Norway.
