Norwegian Red Cross is a member of the world wide Red Cross Movement working with relief and assistance, as well as organizational development of partner Red Cross and Red Crescent societies. The International Department is responsible for initiation, support and follow-up of the Norwegian Red Cross supported programmes within NorCross' strategic priorities; Health, Protection, Water and sanitation, Disaster Management and Organizational Development. Gender and Diversity is cross-cutting issue in all our programmes.     Norwegian Red Cross is committed to further developing the area of sexual and gender based violence within the movement and strengthening of mainstreaming of gender and diversity in NorCross international work. As our Senior Advisor, will be on parental leave from November, we are seeking a highly-motivated Gender and Diversity Advisor for a period of 11 months. The advisor will support the Norwegian Red Cross' regional and county offices in order to strengthen NorCross supported programs. The position is placed in the Core Competencies Unit. The unit consists of 8 thematic advisors and serves as the hub of thematic excellence within the International Department,     The position is based in Oslo, Norway. Travelling will be expected.     NorCross is an equal opportunity organisation.   • Provide support to NorCross country offices to support the mainstreaming of Gender and Diversity in NorCross international programs.  
  • Participate in reference teams to assess quality of programs in all project cycles, as requested by NorCross Country Managers. This is done primarily from Oslo by reviewing necessary documents.  
  • Design, facilitate and ensure induction of staff and trainings in gender and diversity and SGBV to relevant NorCross staff and staff of partner national societies.  
  • Work closely with colleagues in all units to strengthen quality and integrated programming, and to contribute to ensure thematic coordination and alignment.  
  • Contribute to NorCross' strategic processes. This will include coordinate a review of the International Department's Gender and Diversity Policy and Implementation Plan and with Heads of Section, prepare an updated G&D plan for 2018-2020.  
  • Compile results on gender and diversity and SGBV in order to contribute to global donor reports and applications  
  • Direct follow-up of and management of global projects on gender and diversity and SGBV, in close collaboration with the partners in the global RCRC networks and working groups.  
  • Review and update NorCross Thematic Framework on SGBV if needed.  
  • Be an active and contributing member of the RCRC Movement's thematic networks and working groups on gender and diversity, and SGBV. This includes providing inputs to on-going work and development of new tools, and take responsibilities for certain tasks.  
  • Be active in living a working culture of respect, honesty and generosity, generating integrity and trust.  
  Qualifications:  
  • Advanced university degree, preferably in gender studies, social sciences, development studies or international studies.  
  • At least 5 years of relevant international work experience within the field of gender, diversity and SGBV. This includes at least three years of field assignments. Experience form the RCRC movement is an advantage.  
  • Extensive experience with organising events, conducting trainings and facilitating workshops.  
  • Excellent drafting skills and analytical abilities  
  • Excellent command of English, knowledge of Norwegian, French, Arabic and/or Spanish is an asset  
  • Excellent drive, enthusiasm and commitment, a team player that contributes to good working environment.  
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, self-motivated and with the ability to motivate others
