Junior Model Developer

We are now looking for a Junior Credit Risk Model Developer to join our Modeling Team in the Nordics. The Modeling Team at Santander Consumer Bank Nordics is a geographically dispersed team and the members are sitting in different locations in the Nordics (Sweden, Norway, Denmark). The team is responsible for the following areas:

• Development of regulatory and non-regulatory parameter and decision models
• Loan Loss Reserve models, IFRS9
• Model management, planning an governance
• Machine Learning and related innovation initiatives

We offer a position with the following tasks and responsibilities:

• Developing customer behavior and credit worthiness models with both traditional (logistic regression, decision trees) and challenger (random forest, neural networks, etc. ) approaches
• Developing and updating regulatory PD, LGD and EAD parameter models
• Following up the models throughout the full lifecycle (planning, development, validation, implementation, monitoring)
• Ad-hoc reporting and predictive modeling related responsibilities
• Working on other interesting out-of-the-box projects

In order to succeed, you need the following qualification:

You have a high interest in advanced analytics and mathematics and are eager to apply this knowledge in the area of credit risk. Ideally you have a Masters degree or PhD in Mathematics, Physics, Economics or similar.

The technical and other skills needed for this role:

• Knowledge of at least one of the following analytical tools: SAS, R, Python, Matlab, SPSS (SAS E.Guide and SAS Enterprise Miner are the main tools used by the team)
• Experience with SQL and ability to extract and handle complex data sources
• Theoretical and applied knowledge of modeling approaches (Logistic Regression, CHAID/CART, etc.)
• High interest in challenger methods such as Random Forest, Neural Networks, Ensemble models, etc.
• Good command of Microsoft Office tools (Excel especially)
• Business knowledge and ability to put results in business context
• Excellent communication skills (spoken and written English)
• Positive mindset and can-do attitude
• Ability to embrace change, improvement and innovation
• Having work experience in the Nordics and knowledge of the Nordic market will be seen as a definite advantage

The position is fixed term until Apr 30, 2019, but this should not hold you back from applying as we would like to keep the option open to extend the contract in the future depending on the status of the ongoing projects and team structure.

The preferred location for this role is Oslo, but the following locations can also be considered: Helsinki, Copenhagen, Stockholm, and Stavanger.
