Plan International Norway seeks a professional strong education advisor who can think innovatively about Plans' advocacy, policy and programs. As an education adviser in Plan Norway, your responsibility will be to develop and strengthen our long term education efforts, especially the fulfillment of children’s rights to quality education.
Responsibilities, within the field of education:
- Responsible for securing technical support and advice to our partners in our priority countries (Vietnam, Nepal, Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Liberia)
- Support development and implementation of education policies and strategies.
- Take an active role in the capacity building internally and partners
- Follow closely and represent Plan International Norway in key global, international and national fora within the field of expertise
- Provide policy advice on Plan International Norway's advocacy statements
- Responsible for reviews, research and other types of knowledge management
Extensive traveling may be expected, desirably with the possibility of short-term deployments.
As an education advisor you will be part of a highly professional advisory team with competence within child protection, gender equality, inclusion of disabled people, job creation and education in emergencies.
Qualifications:
Education/experience
- An advanced university degree (Masters or above) in a relevant field;
- Minimum 7 years of directly relevant professional experience of project management, coordination, and implementation;
- Field experience with education projects is a strong advantage
- Strong technical knowledge within the field of education, good knowledge of education networks as; GPE, UNGEI, GCE an advantage
Language
- Knowledge of, preferably fluent in Norwegian or other Scandinavian language (as a minimum you must be able to read and understand Norwegian at a high level)
- Excellent skills in English, both verbal and written,
- Candidates with fluency in French will be preferred
Personal skills
- Ability to be flexible and work independently,
- Proven results in developing and implementing innovative education strategies/projects
- Excellent project management skills
- Excellent analytical and writing skills
- Good interpersonal skills
