Scope

The Athlete Biological Passport (ABP) program, a fundamental tool in the fight against doping, consists of the hematological and the steroid modules where selected biomarkers for blood and steroid doping are monitored over time.

Athlete Passport Management Units (APMUs) administer and manage elements of the ABP program. In addition, the APMU is assisting the Anti-Doping Organizations (ADOs) in their test planning to ensure high quality, up-to-date evidence-based test programs. The tasks of the APMU are in accordance with the requirements of the World Anti-Doping Code (WADC) and ABP Guidelines.

We now seek a Nordic APMU manager/adviser, who will primarily manage the steroid module of the biological passport. This new position will be one of two in the Nordic APMU and the manager will be appointed among the two based on qualifications.

 

Tasks

  • Real-time administrative management of Biological Passports and liaising with ADOs, Laboratories and Expert Panels as required
  • Providing recommendations to the ADOs that can be converted into effective and timely follow-up testing
  • Compiling all necessary information to establish ABP Documentation Packages
  • Managerial and administrative tasks as budgeting, reporting to the board of the NAPMU, etc.
  • Participation in research and development projects

Mandatory Qualifications

  • Master’s degree and/or PhD in chemistry or pharmacology or similar
  • Knowledge of and interest is sports in general
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (word, excel, outlook, etc.)

Valued Qualifications

  • Experience with steroid analyses in urine
  • Knowledge of and interest in sports science in general and the field of Anti-Doping in particular
  • Experience from Anti-Doping work in general
  • Knowledge of testing procedures
  • Knowledge of the biological passport in general

 Valued Skills

  • Ability to work independently and to take responsibility to develop knowledge and competence within the acquired field
  • Ability to work with various levels of management in a fast paced work environment
  • Ability to multitask and to work accurately under pressure
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to details
  • Good oral and written communication skills in English

 Details regarding the employment

  • The APMU manager/adviser will be situated at Anti-Doping Norway’s office in Oslo
  • The manager/adviser will be employed by Anti-Doping Norway
  • Working language is English
  • Contract length is two years (2018-2019), with possibility of extension

Anti-Doping Norway (ADNO), Anti-Doping Denmark (ADD), Finnish Center for Integrity in Sports/Finnish Anti-Doping Agency (FINCIS/FINADA) and Swedish Sports Confederation (RF) are non-profit Nordic National Anti-Doping Organizations (NADOs) responsible for their respective countries’ operational Anti-Doping programs. The Norwegian Doping Control Laboratory is a WADA-accredited laboratory conducting doping analysis primarily for Anti-Doping Norway and Anti-Doping Denmark, as well as International Federations and WADA. The five parties have in 2013 established a Nordic Athlete Passport Management Unit (NAPMU) and are now announcing a new position as manager/adviser for this unit. The position is situated in Oslo.
