Telenor Maritime has established a joint Network Operations Centre (NOC) in Stavanger to support our customers. As a result of increasing sales and number of installations, we are now looking for a person to take on the role as our new NOC Technical Support Engineer.

Job Description

The NOC serves and operates ?the remote end? of Telenor Maritime?s mobile, wireless and satellite products within the Cruise, Ferry, Fishery and Offshore markets. The NOC's primary objectives are to secure service level agreements (SLA) and to ensure a high quality end-user experience.

The NOC Technical support engineer will have varied tasks involving all Telenor Maritime?s services, and be responsible for pro-active monitoring via Telenor Maritime?s operational systems, alarm handling and first line technical customer support. This will demand flexibility, the ability to handle different tasks simultaneously and participation in the NOC 24/7 rotation schedule. Working rotating hours/day/weekend shift will be required. Work flexibility is required and you must be willing to work off-hours/days in support of critical programs, customers or other incidents deemed critical by management.

Key responsibilities

  • Alarm handling
  • Pro-active system monitoring
  • Trouble shooting and incident resolution and recovery
  • Handle customer calls, ticket creation/categorization/prioritization and provide first level resolutions
  • Escalation to respective 2nd line support group
  • Network and service supervision
  • Customer support and customer relation building
  • Participation in rotation scheme (24/7)
  • Comply with the Telenor Way and Telenor Mangement System
  • Report on relevant working goals

Desired skills and experience

  • Background from Telecommunications or Information technology industry
  • It is preferable to have experience and competence within several of the following areas:
    • Ericsson GSM, WCDMA, LTE equipment
    • VSAT equipment
    • IP networks
    • WiFi
    • Linux
  • Troubleshooting skills on desktop, applications, VPN connectivity, dial up, wireless routers and using remote control tools
  • Experience from network operations
  • Willing to work in a 24/7 rotation environment
  • Ability to work in a team across all levels of the organization
  • Excellent communications skills to handle global customers in English, Norwegian and other languages
  • The applicant must speak a Scandinavian language fluently

Qualifications

  • Bachelor in telecom, IP-networks, information technology or similar
  • Experience from similar work can substitute for formal education
  • Practical and technical competency to participate in daily routines
  • Related experience and training from technical customer support and/or network operation
