Process metallurgist

At our Kvinesdal plant, three 30 MW furnaces produce Silico Manganese and Low Carbon Silico Manganese. As our new process metallurgist, you will work on our furnace and refining operations – analysing data, driving improvements and collaborating with R&D teams across Norway and internationally. This is a hands-on technical role with real influence on production quality and process development.

The role
You will join our process team in Kvinesdal and work closely with furnace operators, process engineers and R&D colleagues. Your focus will be on maintaining robust process control and contributing to the plant's continuous improvement agenda.

For our plant in Kvinesdal we are currently seeking a process metallurg with either experience from the industry, or newly finished from education.

Please note: the role includes standby duties on selected weekdays/weekends, and some travel – particularly during the first year for training and R&D collaboration.

Key responsibilities:

• Monitor and analyse daily furnace and refining operations to ensure stable, safe production
• Identify deviations and drive root cause analysis on process disturbances
• Lead and participate in improvement projects at plant level
• Contribute to local and international R&D projects within manganese alloy production
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environment and energy (HSEE) standards
• Share knowledge across the process team and build strong operational routines

Qualifications:

• Master's degree in metallurgy or chemistry/ process engineering
• Alternatively: Bachelor's degree combined with substantial experience from the process industry
• Desirable with experience and knowledge in improvement methodology (LEAN)
• Proficiency in Norwegian and English, or be able to learn Norwegian as that is the working language
