We are on the lookout for someone like you to join the Orthrus Squad in the Core Tribe to develop and maintain the critical interface to our new pricing engine.

About the role

This squad is responsible for the development and maintenance of Orthrus, which is the interfacing application to the new pricing engine for private insurances in Norway and Finland. The pricing engine is the heart of the policy core system and Private BA is dependent on this system to ensure the success of its business and that our customers are priced correctly. We are in the process of migrating products from the old legacy pricing engine to a modern pricing engine and we are seeking someone who would like to be part of this important journey.

Beyond the technical deliverables, this role has an important long-term impact on our organization. We are looking for someone who enjoys building deep expertise and takes pride in owning something over time. In this role, you will become our main go-to person on the Orthrus solution - the expert that others turn to when they need answers, guidance, and input to make informed decisions. As our IT landscape changes, you will provide stability - keeping the knowledge, continuity, and long-term direction of Orthrus within the organization.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with key stakeholders including the Business Owners from Product & Price, Product Owner & Tribe Architect in an agile setup to shape and clarify upcoming work, ensuring solutions meet real business needs. Using Azure DevOps, you’ll work closely with fellow colleagues to deliver new features and improvements to Orthrus.

About the team

The Core Tribe is responsible for maintaining and evolving our business-critical insurance and claims systems. The Tribe operates cross-functionally across Finland and Norway, organized into smaller squads combining business domain experts with IT professionals.

Our IT development teams include colleagues from If’s internal IT units as well as strategic partners such as Tata Consultancy Services, ensuring seamless collaboration across Norway and India.

Orthrus squad is one of the squads in the Core Tribe. The mission of this squad is to build and maintain the critical interfacing application between the policy system/digital channels and the new pricing engine. Work is still going on to migrate existing products in Norway from the old pricing engine to the new pricing engine and work will soon begin to start the migration of products in Finland.

Who are you?

You are a technically strong and forward-thinking developer with a passion for quality and long-term solutions. You bring with you a combination of technical expertise and collaboration skills that enables you to succeed in an agile setup.

We also believe you have a quality-minded approach to development with a strong sense of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement mindset. You can understand and work with the big picture in mind. You possess strong communication skills across technical and business domains. When designing and evaluating solutions you apply an architectural perspective and when a problem appears you are fast to apply a collaborative, transparent, and pragmatic approach to solve it.

In terms of technical experience, you have:

• Solid experience with C#,.NET, and Azure application development and maintenance.

• Familiarity with enterprise solutions, REST APIs.

• Good knowledge and practical use of Infrastructure as Code (for example Terraform or Bicep).

• Hands-on experience with tools such as Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.

• Experience with static code and security analysis tools such as SonarQube and Snyk.

It’s a plus if you have:

• Experience working in an Agile setup, collaborating closely with product owners and business stakeholders.

• Experience with monitoring and observability using Dynatrace, Application Insights, Splunk or similar tools.
