We are seeking an experienced and highly capable Director Export Control & Sanctions to lead and further develop the export control and sanctions function within our Missiles & Aerostructures Division (DMA). This is a critical leadership position with endtoend responsibility for divisional export control activities in a complex, highly regulated, and international operating environment.
The position reports to the SVP Legal & Compliance, Division Missiles & Aerostructures, and serves as a vital link between Grouplevel governance and divisional execution. While Group Export Control defines overarching policies, frameworks, and governance, this role is accountable for daytoday compliance, operational execution, and continuous improvement across the division and its global subsidiaries.
The position is colocated with the divisions Global Strategic Supply Chain organization and the Director Export Control & Sanctions will be an active member of the management group of that organization, ensuring close integration between compliance, logistics, and operational execution.
Your role
As Director Export Control & Sanctions, you are the divisions senior authority and point of contact for all matters related to export control and sanctions. You will lead a dedicated team, ensure robust compliance across the value chain, and act as a trusted advisor to divisional leadership, business units, and international stakeholders.
Through close daytoday collaboration with the Global Strategic Supply Chain organization, you will contribute to aligned decisionmaking, risk management, and operational efficiency.
The role requires a strong combination of deep functional expertise, leadership capability, and execution power ensuring that compliance not only meets regulatory expectations but also supports and enables business objectives.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and manage the divisional export control and sanctions function, including people leadership, competence development, and performance followup
- Ensure correct and consistent implementation of export control and sanctions regulations (national and international) across the division and its global subsidiaries
- Own and oversee daytoday case handling, licensing processes, assessments, reporting and regulatory interactions relevant to the division
- Act as the primary divisional point of contact towards Group Export Control, authorities, and key internal and external stakeholders
- Support and advise divisional leadership, Global Strategic Logistics, and business units on export control risk, compliance, and decisionmaking
- Identify, prioritize, and drive improvement initiatives to strengthen processes, systems, and ways of working, ensuring measurable progress and sustainable results
- Ensure effective followup of subsidiaries through guidance, audits, training, and continuous dialogue
- Build and maintain strong international networks across the organization to ensure alignment, knowledge sharing, and consistent practices
- Contribute to divisional strategic initiatives where export control and sanctions considerations are critical
Qualifications and experience
We are looking for a candidate who is a senior, handson leader with the confidence to take ownership in highstakes environments.
You ideally have
- Extensive experience within export control and/or sanctions, preferably from defence, aerospace, hightechnology, or other highly regulated industries
- Proven experience in leading teams and professionals, with the ability to develop people and create strong, accountable environments
- Solid understanding of international regulatory frameworks, risk assessment, and compliance management
- Demonstrated ability to identify improvement opportunities and deliver change with momentum and discipline
- Experience working across international organizations and subsidiaries, with strong stakeholder management skills
- A structured, pragmatic, and solutionoriented mindset, combined with high integrity and sound judgment
- Strong communication skills, enabling you to build trust and credibility at all organizational levels
