We are looking for a Director of Sales – Ocean Mapping
Join us in continuing to revolutionize ocean space operations!
We are looking for a strategic, high-energy, and results-driven Director of Sales – Ocean Mapping to lead and scale our commercial maritime business. In this role, you will take full commercial ownership of our ocean mapping market vertical, defining our global go-to-market strategy and driving international revenue growth. You will play a key role in leading a high-performing sales team and bringing our cutting-edge autonomous surface vehicles (USVs) to a rapidly evolving global market.
The position requires a seasoned commercial leader with deep roots in the maritime, subsea, or robotics industries. As part of our commercial team, you will be a driving force for our autonomous technology, working closely with our defense sales counterpart to share market intelligence and ensure a unified voice for the overarching Maritime Robotics brand.
In this role, you will report directly to our Chief Sales Officer (CSO).
Your key responsibilities
Own and execute the global sales strategy for the ocean mapping segment, continuously evaluating market trends to optimize product positioning and exceed revenue targets.
Manage high-value relationships with global surveying firms, energy giants, research institutes, and aquaculture leaders, while overseeing the complete sales lifecycle from lead generation to complex technical bidding.
Build, nurture, and scale a dedicated network of global distributors and tier-1 partners, ensuring consistent sales enablement and clear performance metrics.
Mentor, coach, and guide your team of sales managers and technical sales engineers, leading them with agility through future restructuring as distinct verticals expand.
Ensure company compliance by continuously seeking process improvements, reporting deviations, and collaborating across functions to translate market demand into actionable technology roadmaps.
Relevant expertise in this role
8+ years of international B2B sales experience, with at least 3+ years in a senior sales management or director-level role within the maritime, subsea, or robotics industries.
Strong understanding of hydrography, oceanography, marine geomatics, or offshore energy. Experience in autonomous shipping (MASS) or aquaculture sectors is a plus.
Proven track record of selling complex, high-value technical systems with long, consultative sales cycles.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering, marine science, business, or a related technical discipline. Relevant practical experience may compensate for formal education.
Ability to obtain or maintain a national security clearance is highly preferred.
Fluency in English (written and spoken) is required; knowledge of a Scandinavian language or additional international languages is a big bonus.
Who are you, then?
An adaptable and resilient leader who thrives in a fast-paced tech environment and can navigate shifting organizational structures with ease.
A natural relationship-builder who is comfortable managing high-value global accounts and holding partners accountable.
Pragmatic and structured in your approach to pipelines, CRM tracking, and forecasting models to ensure predictable growth.
An engaging communicator who can bridge the gap between complex engineering realities and global commercial opportunities.
The one who takes ownership of the entire sales vertical, driving results while empowering and lifting your team.
You are energized and take ownership of our core values: Innovate! Enable! Deliver!
What we offer
A key commercial leadership role in a world-leading autonomous maritime technology company.
The opportunity to shape the future of ocean data collection and sustainable marine operations.
A collaborative, innovative, and highly international working environment with a growing team of passionate and highly competent professionals.
Competitive salary, bonus structure, and a comprehensive benefits package.
A stimulating and dynamic work environment at the forefront of innovative maritime technology.
A meaningful job with an important social mission. The autonomy we create ensures sustainable, efficient, and safe ocean space operations worldwide.
A strong sense of community, plenty of humour, and social activities that bind us together in a busy everyday life.
Maritime Robotics is growing rapidly. While this role currently encompasses hydrography/survey, energy, MASS, and aquaculture/fisheries, the scope of the role and the team structure may evolve as these distinct verticals expand and scale independently.
The position is preferably based at our head office in Trondheim, but for the right candidate, working from a location within Europe will also be considered. Some international travel is required.
Please note that this role may require security clearance by the Norwegian National Security Authority (NSM) and is subject to a background check.

Om arbeidsgiveren
Since 2005, Maritime Robotics has pioneered and led the development of advanced sea drones (Uncrewed Surface Vessels USVs) and maritime autonomy. Our core technology, the autonomous navigation system (ANS), enables safe and efficient remote and autonomous operations at sea.
These robotic solutions are vital for precise seabed mapping, ocean research, securing marine infrastructure, and operations in challenging environments. Globally deployed ANS and USVs contribute to sustainable, efficient, and safe maritime navigation, minimizing fuel use. In today’s world, our technology is also crucial for protecting communities and assets. We see growing demand from defence, security, hydrography, marine construction, and the energy sector.
