Tax Manager

About the position

We are looking for a hands‑on Tax Manager who will own and drive the tax agenda at Vår Energi.
The role will ensure an optimal tax position with full compliance to Norwegian tax legislation, and hold professional accountability for tax compliance, tax risk and reporting quality. It will act as a trusted advisor to Finance leadership and work closely with the business to ensure tax is an integrated part of decision‑making.

The role goes beyond compliance. It will further develop the tax discipline by combining solid governance with forward‑looking tax planning, innovation and continuous improvement. This is a role that combines expertise with ownership, execution and sound business judgement.

You are a structured and confident tax professional who sees both detail and the bigger picture, takes initiative and enjoys ownership.

You thrive close to the business, communicate complex tax matters clearly to non‑specialists and act as a trusted advisor.

• Academic background in law and/or economics; experience from audit with exposure to tax and financial reporting is an advantage
• 8-20 years of relevant experience, preferably from oil & gas or other capital intensive industries
• Good understanding of the Norwegian petroleum tax regime
• Comfortable using digital tools and new technology to improve processes and ways of working
• Preferably based at our headquarters in Stavanger

At Vår Energi, you will work with some of the most complex tax matters in Norway across fields in all life‑cycle phases, with exposure to petroleum taxation, major investments and strategic decisions. You will be part of a strong Finance environment, working closely with Financial Reporting and a dedicated tax team, in a role that offers real influence, professional growth and increasing responsibility over time.
