Analytics & AI Solutions Engineer
The Opportunity
Protector Forsikring is seeking a talented and entrepreneurial engineer to lead the development of our next-generation data and AI capabilities. This is a unique hybrid role for a professional who is passionate about both building robust, scalable data systems and creating intelligent, user-facing applications.
This position is ideal for a self-starter who excels at identifying high-impact opportunities independently. Your mission will be to work collaboratively with the business unit underwriting, not just to solve their current challenges, but to proactively discover and define the innovative projects that will shape their future. You will have the autonomy to investigate our operations, experiment with new technologies, and build solutions—from automated data pipelines to AI-driven applications—that deliver tangible business value.
What You'll Do
• Build a Solid Foundation: Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable data pipelines using our modern data stack (Google BigQuery, SQL, DBT, Python).
• Unlock Hidden Value: Apply modern NLP and machine learning techniques to extract critical insights from unstructured text data residing within our data warehouse.
• Create Innovative Tools: Develop interactive, data-driven applications and prototypes (using frameworks like Streamlit, Dash, etc.) that empower our business users and provide them with AI-powered "co-pilots" for their daily tasks.
• Design Intelligent Workflows: Identify opportunities for automation and design "agentic" workflows that connect internal data with external APIs to streamline complex processes.
• Collaborate and Champion: Work as a strategic partner to the business, understanding their needs, championing data-driven approaches, and demonstrating the art of the possible.
Who You Are
• A Pragmatic Builder: You love to build high-quality, functional solutions. You have a strong foundation in software and data engineering principles but are driven by solving real-world business problems.
• A Curious Technologist: You are passionate about the entire data lifecycle—from raw data to the end-user experience. You enjoy learning and experimenting with new tools and technologies.
• Business-Minded: You excel at understanding user needs and can translate a business problem into a technical specification and a functional product.
• Proactive and Autonomous: You thrive in an environment that gives you the freedom to take ownership, explore ideas, and deliver results.
Our Core Requirements
• Strong proficiency in Python and SQL is essential.
• Proven experience building robust data pipelines and working with cloud data warehouses (e.g., Google BigQuery).
• Demonstrated experience building data-driven applications, scripts, or interactive dashboards (e.g., using Streamlit, Dash, Flask, or similar frameworks). A strong portfolio of personal projects is a huge plus.
• Experience with or a strong interest in machine learning and NLP libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, spaCy, Transformers).
• Experience with modern data transformation tools (like DBT) and integrating third-party APIs is highly desirable.
Our Performance Culture and Values
Our values –Credible, Innovative/Open, Bold, and Committed – are the foundation of everything we do. We stand by our performance-driven culture and efficient structure, which features little bureaucracy and fast decision-making. This empowers our employees to adapt quickly and achieve more. With us, you will find a dynamic mix of experienced professionals and fresh talent, fostering an inspiring and forward-thinking work environment.
We are committed to protecting lives and assets, reducing financial risk for our customers, and upholding our social responsibilities regarding human rights, labor standards, the environment, and anti-corruption. A background check is required for this role in accordance with insurance legislation.
We believe a builder's mindset and a strong technical foundation are key. If you are excited by the prospect of working across the full stack of data—from warehousing to AI-powered applications—we would love to hear from you.
If this sounds interesting, we would love to hear from you. Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions.
