Do you have a strong interest in valve technology?
As a Manual Valve Specialist at Wood, you will provide expert-level support across valve selection, specification, engineering, troubleshooting, maintenance strategies, and lifecycle management for major oil & gas facilities.
You will work closely with engineering, operations, and project teams to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant valve performance across a variety of projects and asset types.
Responsibilities:
Act as subject matter expert for all valve-related matters within projects and operational support scopes
Develop and review valve specifications, datasheets, and technical documentation
Evaluate vendor proposals, support procurement processes, and ensure compliance with Norwegian and international standards
Perform valve diagnostics, root-cause analysis, and provide recommendations for repair, replacement, or optimization
Support project teams with engineering input related to valve sizing, materials, actuation, and control philosophy
Ensure technical integrity throughout design, installation, commissioning, and operational phases
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders, both internally and with clients
Contribute to continuous improvement, knowledge-sharing, and best practice development within the discipline
Essential qualifications:
Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or related technical field
10+ years of experience working with valves in the oil & gas industry
Proven experience working on projects and/or operational assets in Norway, with strong understanding of local regulatory requirements (e.g., NORSOK, PSA)
Strong understanding of valve technology, ball valves, gate valves, and related systems
Although not a requirement for this position, experience working with instrument valves including control valves, safety valves, actuators, etc. is an advantage
Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams
Fluent in English; Norwegian proficiency is an advantage
