In the role of Advanced Solutions Device Specialist at GlobalConnect, you manage and upgrade customer network devices, ensuring stable, secure, and reliable delivery of business-critical services.
Location: GlobalConnect offices in Kristiansand or Fornebu
Shift work, including evenings, nights, and weekends, is part of the role
The role
In this role, you work with lifecycle management of customer premises equipment (CPE) and related platforms for GlobalConnect’s B2B customers. This includes both underlay and overlay solutions such as routers, switches, SD-WAN, Managed LAN, and Managed WiFi.
You are responsible for planning, coordinating, executing, and validating firmware and software upgrades, ensuring that changes are carried out in a controlled way with minimal impact to customers. You work closely with Service Desk, Network Operations, Engineering, and vendors, and act as a specialist resource for device lifecycle and upgrade best practices.
Your responsibilities
Execute firmware and software upgrades on customer CPE and network devices
Plan and coordinate change windows, including risk assessment and rollback plans
Perform pre-checks and post-checks to verify service and device health
Coordinate with Service Desk, NOC, Engineering, and vendors during upgrades and changes
Monitor compliance with target software and firmware versions and support remediation
Ensure upgrades and changes meet SLA, quality, and security requirements
Document all activities with clear traceability
Participate in customer dialogue for complex changes and large-scale upgrade initiatives
What you need to succeed
Experience working with network devices and CPE lifecycle management
Hands-on experience executing changes or upgrades in live customer environments
Working knowledge of networking concepts such as routing, switching, MPLS, SD-WAN, and basic security
Ability to coordinate stakeholders and communicate clearly with customers and internal teams
You are structured, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in operational environments where quality and precision matter.
Nice to have
Networking certifications such as Cisco CCNA, Aruba, Juniper, Fortinet, Versa, or similar
ITIL knowledge or certification
Experience working with ServiceNow
Background from telecom or datacom environments
