Cutting Edge Electronics for Subsea Control Systems

Jefferson Wells is recruiting on behalf of our client for a skilled Test Engineer within electronics. In this role, you will contribute to the development and testing of advanced electronic solutions, and use your competence in analog and digital electronics in a laboratory and engineering environment.

Tasks and Responsibilities

• Create test procedures and write test reports for functional, environmental and system operation testing of custom electronic designs.
• Build test setups for verification of electronic boards including power supplies, power switches, CPU and MCU boards, power line modems, backplanes, motor controllers, battery controllers, chargers and IO modules.
• Establish test setups with automation for environmental testing involving temperature and mechanical exposure stress.
• Perform qualification testing of electronics according to API 17F for Subsea Control System Electronics compliance.
• Collaborate closely with board developers to secure Design for Test requirements in product development.
• Work with developers and reliability engineers to build Accelerated Life Time Testing for lifetime prediction.
• Conduct failure analysis on critical failures in engineering, production and field operation to improve design quality and test coverage.

Background and Qualifications

• BSc or technical vocational education within electronics, automation, cybernetics or similar engineering fields.
• Basic knowledge of analog and digital electronics, AC DC and DC DC converters, battery controllers, chargers, controller modules, sensor interfaces such as RS4xx and CAN, communication and networking.
• Experience with laboratory test equipment including multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, function generators, spectrum analyzers and communication analyzers for CAN and Ethernet.
• Experience with EDA CAD tools such as Altium or ORCAD.
• Ability to create test plans and test methodologies for verification and validation of designs.
• Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python or MATLAB for automation of test data acquisition and analysis.
• Structured problem solving approach, curiosity and strong collaboration skills.
• Fluency in professional English and ability to work in a multicultural environment.
