Legal Counsel / Associate

We are seeking a Legal Counsel / Associate with strong professional integrity, motivation, and relevant experience to join the Legal & Tax Department of Kongsberg Maritime. This is a general in-house legal role offering varied and challenging work in an international and business-oriented environment.

You will work closely with business units, management, and external advisors, contributing directly to value creation, governance, and strategic decision-making across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide general legal advice with a primary focus on contract law and national and international dispute resolution
• Support matters related to corporate governance, competition law, compliance, regulatory issues, and M&A
• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements
• Contribute to internal legal training and knowledge-sharing initiatives
• Participate in professional networks and collaborate with external legal advisors
• Support legal matters across a broad range of business and operational areas

Please be aware, this position may require security clearance.

Qualifications

• Master of Laws (preferably from Norway)
• High professional and ethical standards
• 3 to 7 years of relevant legal experience (candidates with both shorter and longer experience may be considered if the overall profile is strong)
• Ability to work independently as well as in interdisciplinary teams
• Strong capacity to manage multiple complex and demanding matters simultaneously
• Excellent English skills, both written and spoken
• Willingness to work across multiple legal disciplines
• Some travel should be expected
