Mikrobiolog
Jotun A/S
- Frist 28.2.2026
- Ansettelsesform Vikariat
We are now looking for a Microbiologist for the next 12 months!
Join our team of four to ensure safe preservation of Jotun products.
The team has a global support function for the use of biocides in decorative paints. The use of biocides is highly regulated and the number of actives that can be used for in-can and dry-film preservation are limited. Existing and coming regulations for labelling of products containing biocides have made clever use of preservatives and other substances with an effect on microorganisms a competitive factor.
As our new microbiologist you will work cross-functional to test and provide new ideas on how to make sure Jotun products are protected against microorganisms with and without use of traditional biocides.
The position is temporary (12 months) and located in our brand new state-of-the-art International headquarter in Sandefjord, Norway. Work language is English.
Duties and responsibilities
Evaluate efficacy of biocides for film- and wet-state preservation
Field testing of products containing dry-film preservatives
Design, execute and report experimental work in the laboratory
Assist in regulatory matters concerning biological aspects of products
Contribute technically in cross-functional operations with other internal segments
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR AND WHAT WE OFFER
Qualifications
The right person should enjoy laboratory work and preferably have a bachelor’s or a master's degree in microbiology, Biology, Biotechnology or similar fields.
Practical experience from prevention of fungal and/or algal colonization of surfaces or experience with preservation of liquids, foods or cosmetics is beneficial
Knowledge of regulatory issues on the use of preservatives is beneficial
Personal qualities
Acts on own initiative, makes things happen and accepts responsibility for the results
Uses a methodical and systematic approach; plans ahead, defines clear priorities and allocates resources effectively
Quickly understands and analyzes complex issues and problems; comes up with sound and rational judgments
Demonstrates specialist knowledge and expertise in own area; participates in continuous professional development
Communicates in a clear, precise and structured way; speaks with authority and conviction; presents effectively
Co-operates well with others; shares knowledge, experience and information; supports others in the pursuit of team goals
We offer:
Competitive compensation and benefits
Continuous learning opportunities and training activities through on-the-job training and our in-house learning Jotun Academy.
Career development opportunities across multiple disciplines and geographies
Leaders who focus on engaging and enabling their team, proven by consistently high employee feedback scores
