Who We Are
In the spring of 2023, Mat & Drikke Gruppen opened Yōkoso – a modern Japanese restaurant located at Aker Brygge. Specializing in izakaya, sushi, robata grill, and ramen, Yōkoso offers authentic Japanese flavors in a warm and lively setting. Our concept combines quality ingredients, seamless service, and memorable dining experiences.
Mat & Drikke Gruppen is a well-established restaurant group with nearly 40 years of experience in Oslo’s hospitality scene. In addition to Yōkoso, we own and operate Pastis Bistrobar, Louise Restaurant & Bar, and Lekter’n – all located at Aker Brygge.
What’s Happening Now?
Following the success of Yōkoso Aker Brygge, we're now taking the next step:
In October 2025, we’re opening a brand-new Yōkoso location in Østbanehallen – right in the heart of Oslo.
We’re incredibly excited about this new chapter and are now looking for passionate and experienced teammembers who want to be part of the journey. As we expand, we need team members who can be a driving force in the kitchen and a strong support for the crew.
Head Chef
In the position as Head chef, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Yokoso's kitchen. You will also work closely with, and be supported by the Executive Cost Controller, who will be responsible for Yokoso's schedule, as well as being the kitchen's cost controller. The position as Head chef will therefore primarily consist of leading the kitchen and the team on a daily basis. You will work mostly in service, to ensure the quality and delivery of food that goes out to the guests, as well as ensure the competence within the team. The position will also include responsibility for orders, making prep lists and IK-Mat requirements, as well as other tasks and responsibilities that ensure good operation of the kitchen and a good working environment for the employees.
Menu changes will take place twice a year in collaboration with an external consultant and the company.
Senior Sous Chef
We are also hiring a Senior Sous Chef to take an active leadership role in the kitchen. In this position you will work closely with the Head Chef, ensuring smooth daily operations and supporting both quality and efficiency. The role suits someone with solid experience, strong organizational skills, and the ability to motivate and guide the team.
Sous chefs and sushi chefs
We are looking for skilled chefs to join our team, both in the kitchen and at the sushi counter. The role includes preparing and cooking dishes to a high standard, working with fresh ingredients, and contributing to a clean and efficient kitchen. Experience from busy restaurants is an advantage, and we value teamwork, reliability, and a genuine interest in food.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for motivated and skilled chefs who want to grow with us and contribute to Yokoso’s success. Here’s what we value:
- Several years of experience in a professional kitchen
- Preferably a culinary certificate (fagbrev)
- Experience with Asian cuisine or sushi is a strong plus
- Ability to perform well in a fast-paced kitchen and stay calm under pressure
- A hands-on attitude, with the ability to lead by example and motivate others
- Good understanding of kitchen routines, food safety and quality standards
- Structured, proactive and solution-oriented approach
- Passion for food and delivering great guest experiences
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
For the Head Chef position
In addition to the above, the Head Chef should have documented leadership experience in a similar role, solid competence in cost control and ordering, and the ability to plan and develop both the team and kitchen operations.
