Do you want to play a key role in ensuring DeepOcean delivers world-class survey services?
As we continue to strengthen our survey capabilities, we are looking for an experienced Technical Support Surveyor to join our team and help drive technical excellence across our operations.
This role offers the opportunity to contribute directly to the technical readiness of our fleet, support the implementation of cutting-edge survey technologies, and work closely with both onshore and offshore teams to ensure the delivery of consistent, high-quality services.
This is an onshore-based position, working from our offices in Haugesund, Stavanger, Bergen, Oslo, Aberdeen, or remotely from Norway or UK. Although not a requirement – occasional offshore assignments are beneficial for the role.
The role will be reporting to the Principal Surveyor.
Duties and responsibilities
Ensure the calibration status of the vessel fleet is properly maintained and reported
Prepare and maintain technical documentation supporting survey systems and methodologies, ensuring internal archives are kept up to date
Provide regular technical updates to the offshore pool to keep teams informed of new developments
Lead survey readiness preparations for new vessels entering the fleet
Assist in the implementation of new survey innovations, sensors, and hardware solutions
Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the department’s technical survey solutions
Provide technical support onshore and offshore to ensure the delivery of high-quality survey services.
Qualifications
University degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Geomatics, Hydrography, Surveying, or similar).
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear technical documentation and updates.
Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
Experience
Broad experience in offshore survey operations with detailed knowledge of current offshore techniques and related technical systems
Familiarity with survey procedures, methodologies, and industry standards is advantageous
Proven ability to innovate and collaborate across disciplines to deliver new and improved technical solutions
Previous involvement in vessel survey readiness, calibration management, or implementation of new technologies is highly desirable.
