Odfjell Ship Management manages and supervises about 50 ships with competent teams within fleet management, risk management, crew management and technology management.
We are seeking an ambassador for our safety culture and values, who will be responsible for HSSEQ within Odfjell Ship Management.
The role reports to Chief Technical Officer and leads a team of HSSEQ professionals located in Bergen and in Manila. We are seeking a dedicated leader with strong focus on people and processes, capable of driving HSSEQ programs in a dynamic, global shipping environment. You will also have a central role in leading ongoing projects to simplify and digitalize systems and tools. To succeed in this role, you will work closely with internal and external stakeholders onshore and at sea, to ensure customer and regulatory compliance.
The position is located at the headquarter in Bergen and will require business travel.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
- Strategic and operational leadership in emergency preparedness ensuring the organization is fully prepared for critical situations
- Identification and assessment of operational risks through trend analysis and structured monitoring of key performance indicators
- Represent the company in key compliance roles as Designated Person Ashore and Company Security Officer
- Ensure environmental and regulatory compliance with governmental, industry, and customer requirements, including communication with applicable authorities, customers and industry bodies
- Execute Management Reviews and other internal governance processes
- Oversee the safety and quality management system to continuously improve it ensuring full compliance and alignment with required standards
- Lead incident and investigation management and manage internal and external audits
- Facilitate Security Operations and ISPS Code Compliance
- Drive safety campaigns and improvement initiatives; including initiatives supporting physical and mental health and fostering safe and supportive working environments ashore and onboard
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors degree from relevant field, alternatively relevant experience to compensate
- 5 years of relevant experience
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards and codes for operation of chemical tankers and/or oil tankers
- Knowledge of marine loss prevention
- Management experience track record of leading and motivating teams
- English language fluency
ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Onboard experience, from chemical tankers or oil tankers
- Ship Operation/Commercial Operation from relevant industry with customer interface
- Track record of managing multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Experience with Business Intelligence tools and EAM systems
- Experience with marine loss prevention
