Would you like to help us save the ocean?
The challenge we solve
On land, the GPS and other GNSS constellations give precise information about where we are. Same is true for any equipment we tag with such positioning units. However, as soon as you go below water, the positioning becomes much more complicated. We at OSAC have developed a new system that we have called PingMe to solve this issue by measuring the positioning of our sensors, attached to for example a fishnet, relative to a known position, such as a ship. In addition to giving precise subsea positioning, our system has integrated sensors for measuring variables such as temperature and pressure, and these data can be communicated to vessels within a few kilometers for real-time updates. If the vessel has Internet access our cloud services will be updated in real-time as well. Having live data on the environmental conditions surrounding the fishing gear in the depth, in addition to the position of the gear, provides the fishermen with valuable decision support and enable them to fish with higher precision. Due to the accuracy and low cost of our solution, we can work in new markets that previously had no such viable solution available. Our current market focuses are the fisheries, where we can tag fishing gear and make a real difference providing critical environmantal data for enhanced fishing-efficiency, as well as detecting the gear should it get lost. Other markets that we focus on, are research and aquaculture. Both have equipment and assets below water, that require position tracking and monitoring of environmental variables. Our technology therefore contribute to a more sustainable use of our oceans on many levels.
The opportunity
We at Ocean Space Acoustics are proud that we have built such a complex system from the ground up. This is, however, only the start, and the company is now very much on the start line for a scale-up phase. To succeed in this next phase, we need a hands-on hardware engineer to take responsibility for improving and further developing our analog and digital product design.
Responsibilities
The main responsibilities include:
Designing and testing of analog and digital circuits
Design and implementation of PCBs
EMC design and verification
Close collaboration with mechanical- and software engineers to ensure optimal performance
Analyse performance metrics and conduct failure analysis to continuously improve our hardware design
Acoustic testing in watertank
Establish and maintain hardware test automation
Your profile
We are looking for a self-driven and enthusiastic person with good communication skills and experience in the following:
Analog and digital hardware in embedded systems
Embedded programming
PCB design, experience with Altium software for this purpose is a plus, but not a necessity
Underwater acoustics and subsea equipment
Troubleshooting and finding solutions to hardware issues
You are not required to tick off all the items above, but you must be interested in learning more about them and refining your talent.
So, if you are intrigued by this position, but have some doubts about whether your
experience matches our needs, why not get in touch, and we can find out together?
We offer
An open collaborative workplace where you can have immediate impact
Free car parking outside our office
Free lunch at the office
Mobile phone coverage
Competitive salary, pension and insurance scheme
Sea trials on own test vessel in Trondheimsfjorden
Ferdigheter
- Designe hardware
- Designe kretskort
- Elektronikk
- PCB Design
