Project Manager for freedom of religion or belief

Do you want to work with human rights and parliamentarians around the world? The Norwegian Helsinki Committee (NHC) has now a temporary full-time position as Project Manager, available from 15 January to 1 August 2024. The period may be extended.

We seek a motivated, qualified, and well-organized person for a position connected to our support work for the International Panel of Parliamentarians for Freedom of Religion or Belief (IPPFoRB).

You will contribute to the implementation of current IPPFoRB projects and activities, which end in 2024, and the drafting of the new 2025-2027 application. Narrative and financial reporting as well as the planning and execution of activities according to the activity plan will be among your main tasks.

As a member of the NHC IPPFoRB team, you will be involved in updating the IPPFoRB membership database and cooperating with the IPPFoRB Steering Group in activities aimed at strengthening freedom of religion or belief in target countries. The Norwegian MP Abid Raja heads the Steering Group.

In addition to you, the team consists of a communications and advocacy advisor and is headed by the IPPFoRB Director. You also work together with regional partners of the network in Africa, Asia, and Latin America.

The project’s main funder is the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It is, however, an important goal to diversify funding of the project by increasing contributions from European and US potential donors. The team works to increase the visibility of the network, arranging meetings and events, cooperating with regional partners, and supporting actions by the parliamentarians in the network.

You will be a staff member of a dynamic and informal working environment in the NHC, with offices in downtown Oslo. The working language is English, but it can be useful if you also know Norwegian. Salary and conditions are based on previous experience and educational level within the NHC’s salary framework.
