KPMG's independence team is hiring

Independence is a critical topic for KPMG as a multi-disciplinary audit and advisory business.

Our Quality and Risk Management (‘QRM’) department is a tight knit group with responsibility for supporting and guiding KPMG’s auditors, advisors and lawyers in areas which present risks and opportunities for KPMG, including independence.

Working closely with the national Ethics & Independence partner and the team in Oslo, you will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of personal and client related independence matters at KPMG Norway, including:

• Assessing the impacts of changes to independence rules
• Monitoring compliance with personal independence requirements
• Independence assessments in relation to potential new public interest entity audit clients
• Assessing the permissibility of new advisory and tax services
• Presenting internal training to KPMG employees and partners on independence topics
• Identifying and implementing improvements relating to KPMG’s internal independence systems, processes and controls

The position will particularly appeal to those who have:

• An interest in independence and knowledge of the key principles as they relate to KPMG’s business
• A background in audit / internal audit or other compliance disciplines
• Experience discussing and presenting complex topics and constructively challenging others where necessary

We are especially interested in hearing from prospective candidates who fulfill the following requirements:

• Formal education at the bachelor's/master's level in internal audit or with equivalent practical experience
• 2-4 years of work experience
• A track record of contributing to process improvement projects
• Fluency in English and Norwegian, written and spoken
