Create the design for the battery system to balance the power grid!
In this role you could create the mechanical design for the battery system that will balance the power grid in a renewable energy future, providing energy when the wind doesn't blow or the sun doesn't shine.
You could develop your skills by first working with the supplier and our Battery Management System and Sales groups to make the detailed design based on an existing concept, before creating your own conceptual design.
You could be involved in designing the production line that will produce 'your' DC-Block.
You could work internationally, co-operating with colleagues and partners across the world.
You would make a tangible contribution to the energy transition: batteries are integral to over 50% of all carbon abatement actions.
In this role you could
Create the detailed mechanical design with our supplier with focus on maximising energy density, maintaining pressure on pouch cells and cooling- Move to create the conceptual design
- Be responsible developing the mechanical design
- Ensure multi-functional involvement from colleagues from different domains including BMS, Supply Chain, Sales, PLE, etc.
- Work with 3D CAD, 2D Documentation,
Strength simulations/analysis, Tolerance analysis etc. - Contribute to Mechanical Product Requirements and Design Validation Testing
- Participate in failure modes and effects analyses,
support root cause analysis on test cells and products.
To succeed in the role, we believe you have:
- Minimum Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
- Minimum 5 years experience in new product development and mechanical design engineering in industry
- Significant experience with PLM and 3D CAD for mechanical components and assemblies (preferably Siemens NX).
- Significant experience in Design for Excellence (FMEA, DFM, DFA, etc.)
- Significant experience working with battery systems (high or low voltage)
We would also love to see:
- Great teammate and
creative problem solver who has experience supporting/guiding technical teams
and multi-functional group - Flexible and capable
