Production Chemist

We are now looking for a Production Chemist to strengthen our organization in development of our oil discovery offshore Ghana.

Production Chemistry and Flow Assurance provide technical support to Aker Energy operated assets as required. Functionally, this role will provide guidance to the Chemical Supplier and FPSO Operator Production Chemist and may be called on to provide support to other projects, depending on workload.

This position reports to the Production Superintendent.

Responsibilities and tasks:

• Advisory support on production chemistry matters and to assist with field development and production/operational management plans
• Provide support in producing assets relating to production chemical issues, scaling, emulsions, hydrates, asphaltines, waxing and any other process-related production chemical issues
• Manage the work/research relating to Production Chemistry and Flow Assurance for appropriate Aker Energy operated assets
• Offshore operational and commissioning support work and visits, as required
• Deliver support and technical input to processes and procedures for all aspects of Production Chemistry across the assets
• Develop and maintain required core competencies within the team
• Provide management and support for all areas of environmental regulatory compliance concerning the use and discharge of chemicals and emissions
• Ensure compliance with design specifications and standards
• Provide technical authority reviews and support during EPCI phase
• Comply with global procedures while creating, optimising and enhancing local procedures and tools
• Evaluate performance of the chemical suppliers and recommend to line management associated actions/corrections/adjustments
• Establish and promote operational excellence
• Role model Aker Energy's values and ensure they are practiced within the projects/assets managed

Qualifications & personal attributes:

• Engineering degree (Bsc. / Petro-Chemicals)
• Experience in the international Oil and Gas industry (minimum 10 years' experience with a minimum 5 years in an equivalent position for either an organization or a large project)
• Experience in project and technical management
• Good communication and leadership skills
• High level of integrity, ethical values, and cross-cultural understanding
• Willingness to travel, as required
• Fluent in English
