I am selling from my personal collection a very nice Braun C3. This model is somewhat unknown, but it was at some point the top-of-the-line from Braun, eventually replaced by the C4, that gained a few features but lost the direct drive transport.
The C3 has a very stable direct drive transport with an unusual constant braking system that enables wow and flutter levels to rival a dual capstan deck. Also, quite unique is the possibility to record twice the normal speed, for a very high quality and low noise performance
It is also a three-head deck and has Dolby B and C.
SERVICED!
This particular unit has been restored, the transport has been serviced with new belts and a new idler, and the power supply capacitor has been replaced with high-quality Japanese replacements (see the pictures for those marked with a dot). The head has minor wear and should last. long time. There are some signs of its age, but overall it's a very nice unit.
CALIBRATED!
The Braun C3 doesn't have fine bias, the bias is set internally, therefore it can be optimised to one cassette series at a time (one per cassette type). At the moment it is calibrated to record on my cassette stock of old Maxell UD, but, to best use its potential, it should be calibrated for the cassette you wish to record on.
Included in the price I offer to calibrate the unit to a set of cassettes of the buyer's choice (up to one type I, one type II and one type IV). To achieve this the buyer would have to send me in advance up to 3 blanks (one per type), I should have time to properly calibrate the unit within a week and then either ship the player or make it available for pickup.
Included in the calibration I will provide the measurement of distortion and frequency response, as visible in the picture.
The player can be tested and seen in Halden, can organise shipping if necessary
