Cloud Engineering Lead

Telia Norway has successfully developed mobile solutions for businesses and households for decades, and has been one of the driving forces in the migration from fixed to mobile services in Norway. Position summary

Position will be key resource in building up the team that will support end-to-end private/public cloud automation IT and infrastructure application delivery, including infrastructure provisioning and integration with continuous integration/continuous development platforms, using existing and emerging technologies. Design, develop and implement advanced web based systems that will inter-operate with various technologies that enable cloud implementation and management according to Telia Norway standards. This position will play a key role for translating sophisticated architecture defined by the Telia Norway Architectural group into scalable and functional solutions.

Key responsibilities

Technology/Operations Management 70%

• Design, develop and or integrate cloud infrastructure management tools to Telia Norway standards
• Ensures that cloud availability of business-critical systems meet the defined SLAs, responds appropriately to customer issues
• Lead design discussions with appropriate personnel to define goals and objectives of business applications in the cloud
• Create and implement solutions for continuous improvement of Cloud management infrastructure
• Implements capacity management discipline with process and automation tools
• Proficient with AWS, Azure or other Cloud technology implementations and management
• Stay proficient with relevant technologies (REST APIs, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, etc.) with in-depth knowledge of implementing COTS packages for infrastructure management
• Maintain good general understanding of the other functional areas of the company and communicate to the appropriate staff information that has an impact on their assigned projects or responsibilities

Resource Management 30%

• Recruit personnel needed to build the Cloud Engineering team
• Plan and forecast budget for cloud consumption
  

Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Technology or related field and/or equivalent work experience

Need to have

• Extensive IT experience supporting IT Infrastructure and creating automation
• Very good understanding of Amazon Web Services
• Good understanding of technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, etc.
• Good understanding of network segmentation in physical and virtual environments e.g. SDP, VMWARE NSX
• Thorough knowledge of WAN's, LAN's, database and network technologies

 Nice to have:

• Experience managing network, server and web infrastructure
• Experience managing a team of 5+ members
• Experience managing IT vendor relationships
• Understanding of other cloud providers (Google, Azure)

• Ability to establish standards to ensure customer needs are met in a timely and quality way

• Ability to develop and implement a system to respond to strategic and tactical needs
• Strong interpersonal skills required for a team environment
• Strong English written and oral skills (Norwegian proficiency is a plus)
