Join Molgas as Accounting Manager
We are currently looking for an Accounting Manager to join our team in Karmøy or Stavanger. We offer flexible working arrangements, including up to 60 days of remote work annually, while placing strong emphasis on regular in-person collaboration.
You will be responsible for managing the company’s accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with applicable regulations and standards.
The role includes overseeing financial processes, supporting audits, and collaborating closely with internal stakeholders to ensure sound financial management and informed decision-making.
You will also contribute to improving processes and supporting initiatives that drive efficiency and a sustainable, long-term financial performance.
Responsibilities
Accounting & operations
Responsible for all accounting operations across the Nordic companies — general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and follow-up of outsourced salary services
Reconciliation and reporting of VAT and other taxes
Reporting & close
Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including accurals, cost and income provisions, and allocation of costs to segments
Prepare group reporting for the Nordic region, including annual reports and notes to HQ
Monthly intercompany reconciliation, including reporting in Talentia
Controls & compliance
Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, laws, and internal policies
Develop and implement internal controls and financial procedures
Manage audits and liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory authorities
Planning & analysis
Own and drive budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes
Follow up with budget owners to keep actuals in line with expectations
Provide financial insights and decision support to management
Power BI development and maintenance (depending on experience and interest)
Other responsibilities
Cash management
Establish, follow up, and report on projects
Lead, develop, and mentor the finance and accounting team
What We're Looking For
Strong systems proficiency; experience with a major ERP (NetSuite is an advantage), and advanced Excel
Highly analytical and well-structured, with strong attention to detail and the ability to see the bigger picture
Leadership ability — experience leading, developing, and mentoring a finance team
Proactive, solution-oriented, and able to work independently and meet deadlines
Strong communication skills and the ability to translate financial data into decision support for management
Power BI and data/reporting skills are an advantage (or a genuine motivation to learn)
Requirements
Academic background and certifications
Master's degree in finance, accounting, or economics (siviløkonom / master i regnskap og revisjon), or a relevant bachelor's degree combined with solid experience
Authorised accountant (autorisert regnskapsfører) or state-authorised public accountant (statsautorisert revisor) is an advantage
Strong working knowledge of NGAAP; IFRS knowledge is a clear advantage given group reporting requirements
Professional background and years of experience
Minimum 5–8 years of relevant experience from accounting and/or controlling, ideally including a group/consolidation environment
Experience from audit (Big 4 or similar) is an advantage
Documented experience with month-end/year-end close, statutory financial statements, and group reporting
Solid understanding of VAT, tax, and intercompany reconciliation
Experience from the LNG / energy / gas industry is an advantage; alternatively, experience from another capital-intensive or asset-heavy industry (shipping, industry, infrastructure)
International experience
Experience working in or reporting to an international group structure
Comfortable working across borders and collaborating in an international environment, including reporting to a foreign parent/HQ
Experience with Nordic and/or European reporting requirements is an advantage
Languages
Fluent in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language, both written and spoken
Fluent in English, written and spoken (Group/HQ working language)
Additional languages (e.g. Spanish) are a plus given the international group context
