New JJ tubes and bias has been adjusted furthermore checked by my amp tech in Voligborg, Denmark who I bought the amp from one year ago. Selling because I have the 2 Marshalls that I use regularly in the studio. The G1275T speakers are from the early 90s made in England not China. Marshall JCM900 Hi Gain Dual Reverb (Model 4100) is a legendary 100-watt all-valve guitar amplifier head designed for rock and metal players who need high-gain saturation and distinct independent channels. Launched originally in the 1990s and later reissued due to popular demand, it features a dual-channel architecture powered by ECC83 (12AX7) preamp valves and 5881/EL34 power valves. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
Core Specifications
Power Output: 100 Watts (with a low-power switchable option to drop down to 50 Watts).
Valves: 3 x ECC83 preamp valves and 4 x 5881 (or EL34, depending on the production year) power tubes.
Channels: Two independent, foot-switchable channels (Channel A for clean/crunch, Channel B for high-gain lead).
Reverb: Independent spring reverb controls for each channel.
Effects Loop: Built-in series effects loop with a dedicated level control.
Outputs: Dual loudspeaker outputs with selectable 4, 8, or 16-ohm impedance, plus a compensated line output. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
Key Features & Layout
Independent Volume & Reverb: Channel A and Channel B possess their own volume knobs and spring reverb dials. This allows you to set a pristine clean tone with subtle spatial depth, then flip to an aggressive, wet lead tone seamlessly. [1, 2]
Shared Equalization: Both channels share a powerful 4-band EQ section. It features Treble, Middle, Bass, and a Presence control to cut through any live mix. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
Dual Gain Architecture: Channel A features a Gain control that scales from glassy cleans to classic plexi-style crunch. Channel B features a Lead Gain control that pushes the signal into heavy, compressed hard rock distortion. [1]
Pentode/Triode Switch: Located on the rear panel, this switch alters the power amp configuration to lower the overall volume. It allows you to drive the power tubes hard at reasonable room or studio levels. [1, 2, 3]
Sonic Character
The Model 4100 is famous for its bright, aggressive, and slicing upper-midrange response. Unlike its predecessor (the JCM800), the JCM900 utilizes a solid-state diode clipping stage in tandem with its preamp tubes to achieve higher distortion levels without requiring an external overdrive pedal. Channel A delivers a punchy, percussive clean that breaks up musically when pushed. Channel B provides the classic '90s thrash metal, grunge, and hard rock roar that defined a generation of guitar music. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
