The rare ladies version of the famous 222 Vacheron Constantin model 222, ref. 60001.
- Steel case and integrated bracelet. Sapphire glass.
- Quartz movement, caliber VC 1009/39 (based on ETA 959.001).
- Case number 542xxx. Cirka 1980.
- Case width 24 mm (26 mm incl. crown).
- 20 bracelet links. 4 of them removable. For a wrist circumference of approx 15 cm.
- In overall good condition. Some wear.
This Vacheron Constantin 222 ref. 60001 is a rare ladies’ steel quartz example of one of the most iconic integrated bracelet designs of the 1970s & 80s. The 60001 reference features the signature slim tonneau case with notched bezel, integrated bracelet, and the discreet Maltese cross set into the case side—instantly recognizable to watch collectors. Powered by a quartz movement, it offers the convenience of grab-and-go wear while still delivering true haute horlogerie pedigree.
It’s believed that only around 1300 examples of the 60001 were produced across all metals, making the steel version especially desirable and elusive on the market today. This is an exceptional opportunity to acquire a historically important and genuinely scarce Vacheron Constantin sports-luxury piece in a refined ladies’ size.
At the time of listing, there are two other all-steel versions of the model 222 ref. 60001 available. They are listed at approx $22.000 and $16.000. Earlier this April, another one was briefly listed at eB**, also at roughly $22.000.
No guarantees given, but running and keeping time at time of inspection (see video). Rate the past 16 days is approx -0.25 seconds/day (tracking with Watch Tracker app).
A couple of dents in the sapphire glass by the 11 o'clock marker (see last 3 pictures).
When pulling the crown out to set the time (this works as normal), pushing the crown back in does not release the stem / clutch wheel like it should, so the stem stays in time-setting position. But by gently tapping the crown a bit, this will release the clutch wheel / stem from the time setting position again. As far as I can tell this is a quick fix, but you will need to access the keyless works from the dial side, so you need a watchmaker.
Two original Vacheron Constantin links from the two-tone version of the same model have been added to the original bracelet. They have been installed with the backside/frontside inverted – the gold side facing inwards, the steel side facing outwards – to make them fit seamlessly into the steel bracelet. See pictures.
