Mechanical Design Engineer - Drone Development

Rift Dynamics is seeking a senior mechanical engineer with 3–5+ years of experience who enjoys developing concepts, working in CAD, prototyping, building, and testing. You need to be comfortable working hands‑on and following a project all the way from idea to functional solution, while also thinking in terms of design for mass production.

You will work on the development of UAS – drones and related systems – as well as production tools and equipment used in UAS manufacturing. This role is a great fit if you enjoy finding solid mechanical solutions, taking initiative, and turning concepts into products that work in practice. A good understanding of design for manufacturability, including familiarity with injection molding, is also important.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical concepts and solutions for drones
• Design parts and assemblies in CAD
• Prototype, build, and test solutions in practice
• Improve designs through testing and iteration
• Contribute to designs suitable for mass production

Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of relevant experience – relevant experience can compensate for lack of formal education
• Enjoys combining design work with hands‑on tasks
• Brings their own ideas and concepts to the table
• Understands design for manufacturability and mass production
• Has familiarity with injection molding
• Has an interest in drones, mechanics, and product development
• Good proficiency in English both written and verbal
• Good proficiency in Norwegian is a plus
  
  
• Solid knowledge and experience with Onshape and/or SolidWorks is a strong advantage
