Se omtale:
The collaboration between Parasound founder Richard Schram and legendary designer John Curl, which produced the P/LD-2000, began around 1989.
Design History & Philosophy
Early Days & Philosophy: Schram, who founded Parasound in 1981, aimed to create reliable, high-performance audio products with value and longevity in mind, avoiding the typical churn of new models. His partnership with Curl, an engineer known for landmark designs since the 1970s (including the Mark Levinson JC-2 and the Grateful Dead's "Wall of Sound" PA system), was central to this goal.
Engineering Focus: Curl's philosophy was rooted in a deep understanding of solid-state technology and minimizing negative effects of components on the audio signal. He was an early researcher into problems like transient intermodulation distortion (TIM)
in solid-state designs and the negative effects of certain capacitor dielectric materials.
The P/LD-2000's Place: The
P/LD-2000
, with an MSRP around $1,500 in the 1990s, was the flagship preamplifier in the P/LD series before being succeeded by the much more expensive Halo JC 2 line in the mid-2000s. It incorporated premium parts, a dual-mono topology, and pure Class A circuitry to deliver top-tier performance at a competitive price. The design team, including circuit board designer John Thompson and parts specialist Bob Crump, worked meticulously to achieve a clean signal path.
Built to Last: Schram's and Curl's focus on meticulous testing, quality control, and choosing reliable parts ensured the products would stand the test of time
