Beskrivelse av varen
Tilstand: Helt ny - Uåpnet/med lapp
Self made painting using acrylic paints in dark forest greens, fall weather’s olive greens that meets up with metallic sky blues and opal whites giving the sensation of an arial view looking down on a glacier in the water, meeting the textured land mass of fresh greens and dull, yet golden rocks, or a landscape view of the Fjord and Fjell od the mountains meeting the skyline in Norway.
This painting is 108cm tall, 78cm wide and 1cm deep. Made with Amsterdam acrylics paints, mixed with Amsterdam pouring medium. Nothing but the best quality paints for my best artwork. 🥰
This piece was made in the turbulent years of my illness during 2021, and has remained a part of my personal collection ever since. The joy I gain from mixing, touching, using, smelling and painting with the paints in my art studio is — my happy place. This piece reminded me of the feeling of being at the base of two mountains cutting through the sky, meeting the water as we sailed between the Fjords in the North Sea just outside of Rogaland. This painting gave me light, when there was nothing but darkness in my new-to-me-health experiences. Enjoyed in the living room of our home ever since it was made. This piece has remained a favorite of our family and guests, as it is the main focal piece of the wall behind the sofa. This piece is large and in charge! Just like the mammoth mountains it was designed by inspiration of. The metallic paint mixed between the opaque paints creates a playful shimmer that captures the eye as you walk past. The blues and greens feel so healthy and natural to have in the home. It feels as if a window sits on the wall showcasing the best daylight Norwegian summers has to offer us.
When I was too sick to leave my home, had been freshly operated and bedridden, this painting kept me balanced and connected with nature as I awaited for my health to improve upon. Even though I was stuck inside, this painting unlocked my home into the Norwegian Fjords.
My husband on the other hand enjoys the alternative perspective of a birds-eye view of a glacier cooling the shoreline, as its cooling waters mix with the warm rivers beyond with the land surrounding filled with trees and rocks.
What do you see? A sea? A sky? Something else that brings you joy? 👀

Why Fluid Art?
Dustie explains; after becoming physically disabled in 2017, my body required a different method of painting. In previous years, I spent my time, previously, painting with a tiny brush, focusing on tiny details that I could control to perfection and capture pure realism.
When I was given a deeper perspective on how fragile life is, and how “out of control” we are in our fate, I found peace and joy in letting go of the need for perfection and opened my eyes to new opportunities for surprises, fun and creativity to take place by learning a new technique to painting. Fluid art has opened a new door for me, to let go of the control for realism and explore the abstract world of fine art. Finding a healthy balance.
Learning how to “control the chaos” of fluid art— is so much harder than it looks like, but yet it is freeing and satisfying when new surprises grows from the use of a color palette, mixing the paints to be the perfect viscosity, practicing the method of pouring, spinning, gliding, playing with the paints as they go through the chemical reactions to various multimedia used in my artwork to build textures and depth.
So many canvases full of high quality paints have been “scrapped off” in the process of finding the perfect design. Letting go of control, but maintaining boundaries between the landscapes features— is lot harder than it seems. At the same time, it’s fascinating to watch the colors as they swirl into place. But, once you achieve perfection, you know. This is the one! It’s a keeper!
Building scenes of nature into an art style that was mainly used for abstract purposes, has become a joyful and healing experience for me. Allowing the viewer to imagine where each painting brings them.
Some see and aerial view from above. Watching the land cascading into the water. Or seeing the texture maps of elevations from a Birds Eye view. Others see the landscape view, where the sky meets the mountains in the horizon. Some see something completely new. It’s fantastic to hear the interpretation of others individual perspectives of each piece.
This painting will be a conversation piece for years to come, as it inspires viewers curiosities.
In this particular piece, I see into a deep forest climbing up a mountain side. With a shimmer of dark golden sun cascading through the forest openings. As if it was a warm fall evening. When the colors begin to mute themselves and sun snuffs out the light as winter approaches.
