We’re looking for a Software Engineering Manager to join us, working in a cross-functional product team at Laerdal Medical in Stavanger.
About the role
You will be part of a product team consisting of a Product Manager, a Design Lead, and a team of software engineers. Together, you are responsible for continuously discovering, building, and improving the Fleet Management product, ensuring it delivers real value and is a usable, feasible, and commercially sound product.
You’ll stay close to the code while also guiding and growing the team, balancing hands-on development with people leadership and direct reports.
The team designs and runs the systems that manage tens of thousands of CPR Verification Stations in hospitals and training centers. This fleet supports CPR training for millions of healthcare professionals, most of them working in US hospitals. The market is growing quickly, and Fleet Management is what makes this scaling possible.
You will collaborate with colleagues across Stavanger, Copenhagen, Bangalore, and the US to deliver and operate the complete RQI CPR training solution.
What you will do
Lead, coach, and develop a team of 7 software engineers as their people manager
Provide deep technical engineering leadership, including system architecure, technical direction and facilitation
Help guide your engineers, and yourself, well through the AI transformation
Be accountable for technical quality and operational excellence, including a full modern software pipeline and operations
Continuously improve engineering practices and developer experience
We believe you recognize yourself in most of the following
You value in-person collaboration with the product team
You have 5+ years' experience as a tech lead and/or architect
You are comfortable owning and operating products with direct impact on real users
You lead AI adoption through example, curiosity, and practical impact
You have experience as a people manager with engineers reporting to you, leading with empathy, coaching, and feedback
You have relevan higher education (master’s degree is a plus)

This is a full-time role based at Laerdal’s headquarters in Stavanger. We expect most workdays to be spent on-site, with some flexibility for remote work during the week. You will report to the Director of Engineering, who is based in Copenhagen.
