14oz. DENIM 1955Z MODEL ZIPPER FLY
Jeans with a zipper fly were released in the mid-1950s for the eastern U.S. market as fashion wear rather than workwear. In the mid-1960s, a model made of "Preshrunk denim (Sanforized denim / shrink-resistant denim)" was introduced, but at that time, the same as for the button-fly model, un-Sanforized Kibata (grey fabric) was still used. Jeans in this period feature so-short stitches sewn with thick-count yarn on the sides, and for production efficiency (easy to sew) and thread-saving, the belt loop in the middle of the backside is offset to the left to avoid thick sewing parts. The lighter-ounce denim than the main fabric is used for the belt loop, based on vintage jeans. The silhouette is a regular straight close to the "Sugar Cane "1947 model. Also, denim is newly made for these jeans, so the texture is different from the 1947 model. The zipper is "GRIPPER ZIPPER" brass pin-lock type. The zipper tape is made of cotton, so aging the same as the denim will be expected.
