Vintage Hi-Fi Repair & Service
I offer repair, servicing, and restoration of vintage audio equipment from the 1970s–1990s.
BTL Electronics is a small workshop focused on classic hi-fi equipment from the 1970s-1990s. Work is carried out carefully while preserving original circuit design and character where possible, with reliability improvements performed where required.
Services offered include:
• Receiver and amplifier servicing
• Amplifier health check (power, clipping, bias, offset)
• Replacement of electrolytic capacitors (recapping)
• Tape deck servicing and belt replacement
• CD player repair and mechanical service
• Cleaning of switches, potentiometers, and controls
• Mechanical cleaning and lubrication
• Fault diagnosis and troubleshooting
• General signal-path fault finding
Repairs focus on correcting faults and restoring operation.
Restoration work may include extensive servicing, capacitor replacement, adjustment, reliability work, and long-duration testing depending on the condition of the equipment.
Typical equipment I work on includes:
• Stereo receivers and amplifiers
• Cassette decks
• CD players
• Vintage tuners
Brands often worked on include Technics, Sony, Tandberg, Pioneer and similar vintage equipment.
Important information:
Units can be sent to me by post for inspection or delivered to me in person.
All equipment is first assessed and tested before a repair estimate is provided.
An assessment / bench fee applies for inspection, testing, and fault diagnosis.
This fee is payable regardless of whether repair work is approved.
No repairs are performed without customer approval.
Due to the age of vintage electronics, additional faults may become apparent during servicing. Some obsolete parts may also be difficult or impossible to source.
Return shipping is paid by the customer or customer collects in person.
Please ensure equipment is packed carefully for transport.
