Global Product Specialist, Dynamic Positioning System 

About the Role 

We are strengthening our product team in Bridge Solutions at ABB Marine & Ports. We are looking for a Global Product Specialist for our ABB Ability™ Marine Pilot Control with Dynamic Positioning capabilities. If you have hands-on experience with DP and want to bring your operational and technical expertise to shape the future of ABB's DP solutions, this role is for you. You will be the bridge between market needs and product development, ensuring our DP offerings meet customer expectations and stay competitive. Your real-world experience will help us improve our products, support sales teams, and guide customers through their DP journey with ABB. 

Key responsibilities;

Market Insight & Strategy

• Monitor global standards, customer needs, and market trends.

• Analyze market size, competition, and offering gaps to identify growth opportunities.

Portfolio Management

• Improve product documentation together with Product Managers and Owners.

• Support business cases, cost‑reduction initiatives, and portfolio-wide technical alignment.

• Follow key warranty cases and assist in resolving product-related customer issues.

New Offering Development

• Collect and translate customer needs into roadmap input.

• Develop feasible technical and commercial solutions.

• Support business cases for new developments and lead lifecycle management.

• Work with suppliers and partners to ensure products meet market requirements.

Product Launch & Communication

• Prepare product marketing and launch materials.

• Provide product training and ensure high‑quality training resources.

• Contribute to go‑to‑market planning and execution.

Sales & Stakeholder Support

• Keep stakeholders updated on product news, trends, and quality topics.

• Support bidding, sales activities, customer meetings, and trade shows.

• Assist cross‑functional teams with product-related tasks, pricing, and budgeting.

What you bring

You’re someone who thrives in the space where advanced engineering meets real‑world maritime operations. To succeed in this role, we believe you bring:

• A B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Engineering, Maritime Technology, or a closely related field

• Hands‑on experience with DP systems — whether as an operator, designer, or supplier

• A solid understanding of ship automation and modern software-driven vessel systems

• Knowledge of navigation principles, COLREGS, and key regulations such as SOLAS

• Strong communication skills, with the ability to express complex topics clearly in fluent English

It’s even better if you also bring;

• Experience working with DP systems across different roles, teams, or organizations

• Demonstrated technical leadership and the ability to guide others

• Background in product management or business development

• The ability to transform operational insights into clear concepts and break down technical challenges into manageable steps

• A collaborative mindset and genuine interest in contributing to organizational growth

• A willingness to challenge the status quo and help push the maritime industry forward
