Senior Instrument Engineer for complex modification projects
Jefferson Wells is recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Senior Instrument Engineer. The role suits someone with strong field instrumentation expertise and solid knowledge of ATEX and IEC standards. You will play a key role in ensuring safe and robust technical solutions in a demanding modification environment.
Tasks and Responsibilities
• Prepare work orders with clear scope, safe work methods, risk assessments and required resources
• Conduct site surveys to verify work scope, identify risk factors and ensure executable work methods
• Evaluate vendors and equipment, and quality assure documentation and compliance with ATEX, IEC and relevant standards
• Prepare design basis and technical documentation for instrumentation
• Select instrument types, installation methods and define technical requirements
• Hold independent responsibility for all instrument deliveries within the project
• Collaborate across disciplines to handle the complexity of modification projects
Background and Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree or higher, or technical vocational school with 9 years of relevant engineering experience
• Minimum 5 years of experience from multidiscipline oil and gas projects with instrumentation responsibility
• Experience with field instrumentation, from requirement definition to technical documentation and vendor follow‑up
• Experience preparing work orders, practical work methods, work scope descriptions, safe job planning and resource assessments
• Experience with design basis, site surveys, selection of instruments, vendor evaluation and installation documentation
• Strong knowledge of ATEX, IEC and relevant standards
• Experience with NORSOK is an advantage
• Valid FSE with first aid and CPR
• Ex basic (classroom). Exi basic or Exi for engineering personnel when relevant
• Fluent English, written and spoken
• French is an advantage
• Experience with E‑plan, SmartPlant Instrumentation, MS Visio, MS Office and PIMS is desirable
